VERY BIG UPDATE

Yes, Sorry about lack of updates and the like, I've had some issues logging back into my account recently.

A lot has happened project wise since the last blog post, and I shall tell you the most important stuff:

1. Location Issues

Our group have had some minor issues when it came to finding the right location for filming. we initially had this abandoned building in the middle of witney that worked perfectly, but the one day we were planning to film, the council came along and started a refurbishment project on the building, ruining our plans. Un-fazed by this, we decided that a burnt down building in witney would be a good idea as an alternate location. At first it worked well, until we received information that there was a possibility of Asbestos still lingering in the building, so we decided rather quickly to scrap this location as fast as possible. A week passed, and things were looking a bit hopeless location-wise, until we discovered the college's sixth form centre was no longer in use and looked nothing like it used to, and suited the idea to a tee. So in the end, we chose this place as our principal location.

2.Helping another group

During our location/filming drought, I decided to offer my assistance to another group in the class who approached me with an acting role for their Single Camera Drama. I gladly accepted, and work for this began very soon. After looking at everything that was filmed that day (along with the groups idea) I'd say that my group has some serious competition on this assignment, as what they filmed was very,very good indeed and I can't wait to see there finished product. (the fact I star in it is also a factor...)

3.Filming our production

On Thursday we finally got round to filming our drama. We used the aforementioned sixth form room to full effect, which looked brilliant on the camera. Everything went extremely well that day, with all of the actors being on top form, as well as those behind the camera as well. There's a shot I really,really like towards the end of the drama which I came up with on the spot, where the camera follows two henchman around as they fight, before going back to the kidnappee, all in one shot. The Brutality of the violence mixed with the camera motion is very effective, and I really can't wait to start editing this after Half-term. =)

Location Scouting

So, we've chosen (quite rightly) Rob's idea for Single Camera Drama. It's a very good idea with a pretty sharp script. Today we all went to see the location, and it seems very effective in terms of the script. It fits the mood perfectly, and despite some broken glass here and there it seems relatively safe to work in aswell. I will post some pictures from the location soon =)

Single Camera Drama Idea.

So, we've all had to come up with individual ideas for this project, and tomorrow we'll be deciding which idea within our groups will be chosen. This is the Synopsis for my idea:

SYNOPSIS:

A man returns home after a night on the town. It is established that through the mis en scene and ramblings of the character that this man is an alcoholic. He wanders around his house, shouting out for his family, who he cannot seem to find. Concerned, he runs around the house desperately trying to find them, but it is no use.

He slumps into his living room seat, and sees a man stood in the corner. He reveals himself to be The man’s conscience, embodied through a hallucination. He tells the man that his family is no longer at home, and that he must search for them elsewhere. He leaves the house and begins to hear a woman screaming, and the muffled sounds of children screaming in the background. This overwhelms him as the volume becomes unbearable, and he collapses to the ground. The conscience tells the man not to give up so easily, starting an argument between the two. The camera cuts to a different angle at this point as a passer by walks into shot, who sees the man shouting at himself in two different voices. He looks down at his hands, which are covered in blood. He screams and panics, before looking at his hands again which are now perfectly clean. He sees his wife at the end of the street, who starts to run away from him. He runs after her and almost catches up with her, but she fades away just before he sees a trail of blood on the road. His conscience returns and tells him to follow the trail. As he gets further down the trail, he hears an argument with his wife in his head, along with the crying of his children. The sound gets louder and louder the further he walks, before he ends up at a shack in the middle of a forest. The conscience stand in front of the shack, not saying a word but simply pointing at the door. The Man walks slowly towards the shack and creaks open the door, before being sick once he sees what is inside. His family is dead inside the shack, which causes the man to collapse to the floor clutching his head, at which point a flashback plays showing him murder his family.

The conscience walks up to him and holds out both of his hands. In one hand is a mobile phone, to call the police with to hand himself in. The other hand contains a gun, to take the cowards way out of the situation. The Man looks at the camera as it zooms in slowly on his face, he closes his eyes and it cuts to black.

It Begins

And so the video production process begins once more, this time it's the big one: Single Camera Drama. I can't wait to get started on this; everyone in my group is extremely talented, we've got ideas flying around already, and I need to get started on my own idea sometime soon, so I'll wrap up this post now, and once I have the completed idea I'll put that in the next post.
